Audi Roadside

Need Roadside Assistance For Your Audi?

Quattro is permanent on most of them, which rules out a wheel lift entirely. Add air suspension that sits down when the car dies and a diesel that counts down to a no-start, and the right truck matters.

What This Is

Audi roadside help, dispatched nationwide

Road Rescue Network dispatches 24/7 roadside help for Audi. The single most important fact is the drivetrain: quattro sends power to all four wheels all the time on most models, so the car has to ride with all four wheels off the ground. Beyond that, the calls are air suspension, exhaust-fluid lockouts on the diesels, and tires on wheels with no spare behind them.

The Vehicle

Who builds a Audi, and why it changes the rescue

Audi sells quattro across most of its line, and a full time all wheel drive system is a flatbed job rather than a two wheel tow. The other Audi specific fact is packaging. On several models the battery sits under the boot floor or beneath a scuttle panel, so a jump start starts with finding it.

Why A Audi Is Different

What a rescuer has to know before they roll on a Audi

These are the things that go wrong when a Audi gets whichever truck was closest instead of the right one.

Quattro means a flatbed, not a preference

Permanent all-wheel drive is driven at all four corners at all times. Towing with either axle turning on the road works the driveline against itself and damages the centre differential. Front-drive models exist in the same model lines, so we ask, but the bed is the answer that is never wrong.

Air suspension settles onto its stops

A7, A8, Q7 and Q8 with adaptive air suspension drop when the system loses pressure or the car sits dead, which cuts ground clearance and defeats a standard loading angle. It looks like damage and is not.

The diesels stop themselves on fluid

TDI models monitor diesel exhaust fluid, warn, then count down remaining starts, and at zero refuse to restart until the tank is filled and the system clears. Nothing is broken. Fluid brought to the car usually ends the call there.

The battery is not under the hood, and jumping happens elsewhere

Depending on model the battery sits under the rear seat or in the luggage area, with designated jump points in the engine bay. A rescuer clamping wherever a cable reaches is a rescuer about to cause a fault.

No spare, on tire sizes nobody stocks

Most carry a sealant kit or nothing at all, on large-diameter wheels with short sidewalls. Pothole damage is a torn sidewall, which sealant cannot fix.

What We Handle

The Audi calls we take

Flatbed transport

The correct way to move a quattro, with all four wheels off the ground and a shallow approach where air suspension has settled.

AdBlue delivery and diesel no-start

Exhaust fluid brought to the vehicle and filled, with a restart attempt on-site.

Flat tire

Correct-size tires brought to the car, with the wheel-lock key confirmed first.

Jumpstart and battery

Jump at the designated points and replacement of a battery mounted under the seat or in the luggage area.

Lockout and fuel delivery

Opened without damaging trim, and fuel brought to the vehicle.

Before The Truck Arrives

How a Audi has to be moved

Worth reading to whoever shows up, whether or not we sent them.

Every quattro model, and every e-tron, belongs on a flatbed with all four wheels off the ground. Front-wheel-drive Audis can be moved with the drive wheels lifted. An air-suspension car sitting on its stops needs a shallower approach or wood, and a dead car with an electronic parking brake will not roll and needs skates.

FAQ

Audi roadside questions

Can my quattro be towed with two wheels on the ground?

No. Permanent all-wheel drive means all four wheels are driven, so any wheels turning on the road load the driveline against itself. It needs a flatbed with all four off the ground, and that is true for a short distance too.

My Q7 is sitting on the ground. Is the suspension broken?

Usually not. Air suspension settles when it loses pressure or the car has been dead a while. It does mean the loading angle is tighter, so mention it and the truck arrives ready with a shallow approach or wood.

My TDI says it will not restart because of AdBlue.

That is deliberate emissions behaviour, not a fault. A rescuer brings enough diesel exhaust fluid to clear the lockout, fills it and attempts the restart on the spot. A single small bottle is frequently not enough volume, which is why people call after trying.
