Need Roadside Assistance For Your Hyundai?
Two Hyundai calls dominate everything else: a car that will not start after somebody got into it, and an engine that stopped without warning. Both end in a tow, and both go better when dispatch knows which one it is.

Hyundai roadside help, dispatched nationwide
Road Rescue Network dispatches 24/7 roadside help across the Hyundai range. Most of what we are called to is ordinary, but two patterns stand out enough to plan around. A run of older models is a known theft target and owners are frequently left with a damaged ignition and a car that will not start. Separately, some engines in the Theta family have failed suddenly and completely. Both need transport rather than a roadside repair.
Who builds a Hyundai, and why it changes the rescue
Hyundai has moved a large part of its range onto the dedicated E-GMP electric platform, which sits the pack in the floor and drives the rear wheels on most versions. The older combustion models are conventional front drive. The two need opposite assumptions, so identifying which one is on the shoulder comes first.
Hyundai Motor Company, often referred to as Hyundai Motors (Korean: 현대자동차) and commonly known as Hyundai, is a South Korean multinational automotive manufacturer established in 1967. Currently, the company owns 33.88 percent of Kia Corporation, and owns a luxury cars subsidiary, Genesis. The three brands altogether make up the Hyundai Motor Group.Hyundai on Wikipedia

What a rescuer has to know before they roll on a Hyundai
These are the things that go wrong when a Hyundai gets whichever truck was closest instead of the right one.
Theft damage leaves the car unable to start, not just broken into
A run of models built through roughly 2011 to 2021 without an engine immobiliser became a widely publicised theft target. Owners come back to a broken window, a damaged steering column and a car that will not turn over even though nothing was taken. That is a tow and a locksmith job, not a jumpstart. Say it was a break-in when you call so the right help comes, and ask your dealer about the security software update and the steering-wheel lock programmes.
Some engines stop suddenly and completely
Certain Theta engines have failed abruptly, usually with a knocking noise, a warning light and a stall that does not restart. It is a well-documented pattern with extended warranty coverage attached in many cases. If your car knocked and died, do not keep cranking it. It needs a bed, and the paperwork afterwards may be worth more than the tow.
A mobility kit, not a spare
Much of the range carries sealant and a compressor rather than a wheel. That handles a nail and not a sidewall, and the bigger wheels on Palisade and higher trims are sizes a general truck may not stock.
Ioniq models are 800-volt electric vehicles
Ioniq 5 and 6 use a high-voltage architecture and need flatbed transport with all four wheels off the ground. As with every EV, the small 12V battery is what usually makes one seem completely dead, and reviving it brings the car back.
The Hyundai calls we take
Theft-damage transport
Moving a car that will not start after a break-in, without adding damage to a compromised column or ignition.
Engine failure transport
Flatbed for a seized or stalled engine, and honest advice about not cranking it further.
Flat tire
Correct-size tires brought to the vehicle where the mobility kit will not do it.
Jumpstart and battery
Jump, load test and on-site replacement, including the 12V on Ioniq models.
Lockout, fuel and winch-outs
Opened without damage, fuel delivered, and recovery from snow and soft ground.
How a Hyundai has to be moved
Worth reading to whoever shows up, whether or not we sent them.
All-wheel-drive Hyundais and every Ioniq belong on a flatbed with all four wheels off the ground. Front-wheel-drive cars can be moved with the drive wheels lifted, unless the ignition or column has been damaged, in which case a bed avoids compounding the problem. Do not keep cranking an engine that knocked and stopped.

Hyundai roadside questions
Someone broke into my Hyundai and now it will not start.
That is a pattern we see constantly on the older models that shipped without an immobiliser. The column or ignition is usually damaged, so it is not a jumpstart, it is a tow plus a locksmith or dealer. Tell dispatch it was a break-in and we send transport rather than a battery truck. It is also worth asking your dealer about the security software update.
My engine knocked and died. Should I try to restart it?
No. Repeated cranking after that kind of failure can turn an engine that might be covered into one that is harder to argue about. Some Hyundai engines have a documented sudden-failure history with extended coverage attached. Get it moved on a bed and let a shop look at it.
Can an Ioniq 5 be towed on its wheels?
No. It needs a flatbed with all four wheels off the ground. If it seems totally dead, that is very often the small 12V battery rather than the traction pack, and reviving the 12V brings the car back to life.

Hyundai down right now?
One number reaches a live dispatcher. Tell them the model and what it is doing, and the truck that leaves is the one that can actually take your car.
