Need Roadside Assistance For Your Land Rover?
Air suspension on the ground, permanent four-wheel drive that rules out a wheel lift, and more weight than the badge suggests. Three reasons the wrong truck leaves without you.

Land Rover roadside help, dispatched nationwide
Road Rescue Network dispatches 24/7 roadside help for Land Rover and Range Rover. The recurring picture is a vehicle sitting flat on its stops with a driver convinced something has broken. Usually the suspension is simply at rest, but it does mean the loading angle is tight, the vehicle is heavy, and the drivetrain wants all four wheels off the ground.
Who builds a Land Rover, and why it changes the rescue
Land Rover builds full time four wheel drive into everything it sells, and has done since the marque began, so there is no two wheel tow that is safe to assume. Air suspension is fitted across most of the range and a vehicle that has lost pressure sits on its bump stops, which is a recovery problem before it is a repair.

What a rescuer has to know before they roll on a Land Rover
These are the things that go wrong when a Land Rover gets whichever truck was closest instead of the right one.
Air suspension parks itself on the ground
Range Rover and most of the range sit on air springs that settle when the system loses pressure or the vehicle is dead. Ground clearance can end up at a few inches, which defeats a standard flatbed approach and makes skates or extended ramps necessary. A Range Rover on the deck is normal, not evidence of a collision.
Permanent four-wheel drive means a flatbed
These drive all four wheels all the time. Towing with wheels turning works the driveline against itself. It is a flatbed vehicle, full stop, and the weight means the flatbed has to be rated for it.
Heavier than it looks, on wheels bigger than you think
A full-size Range Rover is a heavy vehicle running large-diameter wheels on short sidewalls. That combination produces pothole sidewall damage that sealant cannot fix, on sizes a general tire truck does not carry.
Owners actually use them off pavement
Defender in particular gets driven where recovery, not towing, is the job. Recovery comes from rated points, and the truck sent has to be able to get itself back out with a heavy vehicle behind it.
Electrical faults present as total shutdown
These are electrically complex and a low or failing battery can produce a screenful of unrelated warnings, a vehicle that will not select a gear, and suspension that will not raise. It looks catastrophic and is often a battery.
The Land Rover calls we take
Flatbed transport
All four wheels off the ground on equipment rated for the weight, with a shallow approach for a vehicle sitting on its stops.
Off-pavement recovery
Mud, snow, sand and trails, taken from rated recovery points.
Flat tire
Correct-size large-diameter tires brought to the vehicle, with the wheel-lock key confirmed.
Jumpstart and battery
Jump and on-site replacement, which resolves a surprising share of calls that present as total failure.
Lockout and fuel delivery
Opened without damaging trim, and fuel brought to the vehicle.
How a Land Rover has to be moved
Worth reading to whoever shows up, whether or not we sent them.
Flatbed with all four wheels off the ground, on equipment rated for a heavy vehicle. Expect the air suspension to be at its lowest, so plan a shallow approach, wood or skates. Recovery lines go to rated points, never to suspension arms or body structure.
Land Rover models we cover

Owners on pavement and off it, plus the ones who found out the hard way that not every flatbed is rated for a full-size Range Rover. Every rescuer carries current general liability insurance and works to standardised response and pricing practices.

Land Rover roadside questions
My Range Rover is sitting flat on the ground. What broke?
Usually nothing. Air suspension settles when it loses pressure or the vehicle has been dead for a while, and clearance can drop to a couple of inches. It does mean the loading angle is very tight, so mention it when you call and the truck arrives with a shallow approach, wood or skates.
Can it be towed on two wheels for a short distance?
No. Permanent four-wheel drive means all four wheels are driven, so anything turning on the road loads the driveline. It needs a flatbed with all four wheels off the ground, and one rated for the weight.
Everything on the dash lit up and it will not move.
On these that is very often a weak or failing battery rather than a mechanical failure. A low-voltage fault can throw unrelated warnings, refuse a gear and stop the suspension raising. A rescuer will test and jump it before assuming the worst.

Land Rover down right now?
One number reaches a live dispatcher. Tell them the model and what it is doing, and the truck that leaves is the one that can actually take your car.
