MINI roadside help, dispatched nationwide
Road Rescue Network dispatches 24/7 roadside help for MINI. These are BMW products underneath, so the electrical layout and the towing rules are familiar to our rescuers. What is specific to MINI is size and ride height: it loads differently from an ordinary car and there is no spare aboard.
Who builds a Mini, and why it changes the rescue
Mini is BMW's small car brand and inherits BMW's electrical habits in a much smaller package. Short wheelbase and low ground clearance are the recovery facts. A Mini loads at a steeper effective angle than its size suggests, and the front lip is the first thing to touch the ramp.

What a rescuer has to know before they roll on a Mini
These are the things that go wrong when a Mini gets whichever truck was closest instead of the right one.
Run-flats and no spare
MINI ships on run-flat tires with no spare and often no jack. Drivers cover far more distance on a deflated run-flat than the tire is rated for, because the car does not feel obviously wrong, so they usually arrive needing a replacement rather than a repair.
Low and short, which changes the load
A short wheelbase and low front mean a standard flatbed approach can catch the nose and the car can see-saw on the ramp. Extended ramps or a shallow angle solve it, and it is worth naming the vehicle at dispatch.
BMW underneath, including the parking brake behaviour
A dead MINI can hold its wheels with the electronic parking brake and refuse to release the shifter, exactly as a BMW does. That means skates rather than rolling it on.
All-wheel-drive Countryman models want all four up
ALL4 versions belong on a flatbed. The front-drive cars are more forgiving, but the bed is the answer that always works.
The Mini calls we take
Destroyed run-flats
Correct-size run-flat replacements brought to the vehicle, since there is no spare to fit.
Towing
Flatbed with a shallow approach, and skates where the car is dead and will not release.
Jumpstart and battery
Jump at the correct points and on-site replacement.
Lockout and fuel delivery
Opened without damaging trim, and fuel brought to the vehicle.
How a Mini has to be moved
Worth reading to whoever shows up, whether or not we sent them.
Flatbed is the default, with a shallow approach angle because the car is low and short. ALL4 and electric models must have all four wheels off the ground. A completely dead MINI will hold its wheels with the parking brake and needs skates.

Mini roadside questions
I have a flat and there is no spare.
That is standard on a MINI. They run run-flats with no spare and usually no jack. Because a deflated run-flat still drives, most arrive beyond repair, so we bring a correct-size replacement. Read the size off the sidewall when you call.
Will a normal tow truck load it safely?
It can, with a shallow approach. The car is low and short, so a steep ramp can catch the nose. Naming the vehicle at dispatch gets a truck set up for it.
The car is dead and will not move.
The electronic parking brake stays applied with no power and the shifter will not release, same as on a BMW. It is normal, and the rescuer will use skates.

Mini down right now?
One number reaches a live dispatcher. Tell them the model and what it is doing, and the truck that leaves is the one that can actually take your car.
