Need Roadside Assistance For Your Nissan?
If the engine revs and the car does not move, stop driving and stop towing it on its own wheels. That is a transmission call, and how it gets moved decides whether the damage stays where it is.

Nissan roadside help, dispatched nationwide
Road Rescue Network dispatches 24/7 roadside help for Nissan. The defining Nissan call is the continuously variable transmission: it fails gradually, then suddenly, and the vehicle ends up on the shoulder revving without moving. Getting it onto a bed rather than towing it with the drive wheels turning is the part that matters.
Who builds a Nissan, and why it changes the rescue
Nissan fitted continuously variable transmissions across much of its range for years, and a CVT does not tolerate being towed on its driven wheels the way a conventional automatic sometimes will. Flatbed is the safe default on these regardless of how short the distance looks.
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. is a Japanese multinational automobile manufacturer headquartered in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan. The company sells its vehicles under the Nissan and Infiniti brands, and formerly the Datsun brand, with in-house performance tuning products under the Nismo and Autech brands. The company can be traced back to the beginning of the 20th century with the Nissan zaibatsu, or Nissan Group.Nissan on Wikipedia

What a rescuer has to know before they roll on a Nissan
These are the things that go wrong when a Nissan gets whichever truck was closest instead of the right one.
A failing CVT must not be towed on its own wheels
Altima, Rogue, Sentra, Murano and others use a continuously variable transmission that is well known for failing, often as shuddering, a whine, or the engine revving with no drive. Once it has failed the drive wheels should not be turning on the road, which makes this a flatbed job even on a front-wheel-drive car. Towing it the cheap way is how a failed transmission becomes a failed transmission plus more damage.
The symptom looks like something else
Drivers describe it as slipping, as the car not accelerating up a hill, or as a burning smell. It is easy to mistake for low fuel, a clutch, or an engine problem. Describing it accurately on the call is what gets a flatbed sent instead of a wheel lift.
Leaf is an EV with an unusual charging history
Nissan Leaf needs flatbed transport with all four wheels off the ground, and older ones use a charging standard that is disappearing from public networks, so a Leaf out of charge is often genuinely stranded rather than a short hop from a working charger. The 12V battery strands them just as often as the traction pack does.
NV vans and Titan are dispatched on load, not badge
Cargo and passenger NV vans and loaded Titans need equipment sized to the real weight and height. We ask what is in the back.
The Nissan calls we take
Transmission failure transport
Flatbed transport for a failed or failing CVT so the drive wheels are not turning on the way to the shop.
Jumpstart and battery
Jump and on-site replacement, including the 12V on a Leaf, which is a common cause of a car that seems completely dead.
Flat tire and lockout
Correct-size tires brought out, and lockouts opened without damage.
EV transport and out-of-charge calls
Flatbed for Leaf and Ariya, with an honest answer about the nearest charger that actually works for your model.
Fuel delivery and winch-outs
Fuel brought to the vehicle, plus recovery from snow, ditches and soft ground.
How a Nissan has to be moved
Worth reading to whoever shows up, whether or not we sent them.
Any Nissan with a suspected transmission failure belongs on a flatbed, front-wheel drive or not. All-wheel-drive models and every electric Nissan need all four wheels off the ground. Front-wheel-drive cars in good mechanical order can be moved with the drive wheels lifted, but say so if the transmission is the reason you called.

Nissan roadside questions
My Nissan revs but will not move. What is it?
That pattern usually points at the continuously variable transmission, which these are known for. The important part right now is that it should go on a flatbed rather than being towed with the drive wheels turning, because that can add damage on top of what is already wrong. Say revving without moving when you call.
Can a Leaf be towed like a normal car?
No. It needs a flatbed with all four wheels off the ground. Also worth checking the small 12V battery, because a Leaf that appears completely dead very often has a full traction battery and a flat 12V.
My Leaf ran out of charge. Can you get me to a charger?
We can move it, and we will be honest about where. Older Leafs use a fast-charging standard that is vanishing from public networks, so the nearest charger on a map is not always one that will work for your car. We would rather tell you that before the truck rolls.

Nissan down right now?
One number reaches a live dispatcher. Tell them the model and what it is doing, and the truck that leaves is the one that can actually take your car.
