Rivian Roadside

Need Roadside Assistance For Your Rivian?

An electric truck that weighs about as much as two ordinary cars, sits on air suspension, and gets driven where the pavement stops. The truck we send has to be rated for all three.

What This Is

Rivian roadside help, dispatched nationwide

Road Rescue Network dispatches 24/7 roadside help for Rivian R1T and R1S. The defining fact is mass: these are around seven thousand pounds before anything is loaded, which rules out some light-duty rollbacks. Add air suspension that settles when the vehicle is dead and an owner base that goes off pavement, and dispatching on the model rather than the badge is the whole job.

The Vehicle

Who builds a Rivian, and why it changes the rescue

Rivian builds a skateboard platform with quad and dual motor drive and a pack in the floor, and sells it as both a pickup and an SUV. Every wheel is driven, so there is no two wheel tow that is safe, and the vehicle has to be put into its own transport mode before it will roll freely at all.

Rivian Automotive, Inc., is an American electric vehicle manufacturer and automotive technology company founded in 2009. It produces an electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) and a pickup truck, both on a "skateboard" platform that can support future vehicles and be adopted by other companies. They also produce an electric delivery van, the Rivian EDV. The EDV is sold to Amazon for its deliveries. It started deliveries of its R1T pickup truck in late 2021, R1S sport utility vehicle in 2023, and R2 midsize SUV in 2026. The company also operates the Rivian Adventure Network, an open DC fast charging network in the United States.Rivian on Wikipedia

Why A Rivian Is Different

What a rescuer has to know before they roll on a Rivian

These are the things that go wrong when a Rivian gets whichever truck was closest instead of the right one.

Around seven thousand pounds, empty

That is heavier than most full-size pickups and beyond what some light-duty flatbeds should carry, especially loaded with gear. Naming the model at dispatch is what gets a truck rated to do it legally and safely.

Air suspension parks itself low with no power

The vehicle settles when it is dead, cutting ground clearance and tightening the loading angle. There is a tow mode that prepares the vehicle for transport, and it needs the vehicle awake to engage.

They are genuinely off pavement

Owners use these on trails, beaches and unplowed roads, so a Rivian call is often a recovery rather than a tow, at the end of a road the recovery truck has to be able to get back out of. Recovery comes from rated points.

Flatbed only, and the 12V still strands it

Like every EV, all four wheels off the ground, no rolling neutral once fully dead, and a small low-voltage battery that is very often the actual reason a seemingly dead vehicle will not respond.

What We Handle

The Rivian calls we take

Heavy flatbed transport

Equipment rated for the real weight, with a shallow approach for a vehicle sitting on its stops.

Off-pavement recovery

Trails, sand, snow and mud, taken from rated recovery points by a truck that can also get itself out.

Dead 12V

Waking the vehicle and replacing the low-voltage battery on-site where it will not hold.

Flat tire and out-of-charge transport

Correct-size tires brought out, and transport to a charger that is actually working.

Before The Truck Arrives

How a Rivian has to be moved

Worth reading to whoever shows up, whether or not we sent them.

Flatbed with all four wheels off the ground, on equipment rated for roughly seven thousand pounds before cargo. Engage the vehicle's tow mode while it still has power. Once fully dead it will not roll and needs skates, and the air suspension will be at its lowest, so plan a shallow approach.

FAQ

Rivian roadside questions

Can a normal flatbed take my R1T?

Not always. These weigh around seven thousand pounds empty, which is more than some light-duty rollbacks should carry. Say R1T or R1S at dispatch and a rated truck is sent rather than one that arrives and cannot legally load you.

The truck is dead and sitting on the ground.

That is the air suspension at rest with no power, which is normal. It does mean a tighter loading angle. If the vehicle still has any power, tow mode should be engaged before it goes fully flat, because that makes the load far easier.

I am stuck on a trail. Can you reach me?

Often yes, and it gets dispatched as a recovery rather than a tow. Tell us the surface, the distance from pavement and whether the vehicle is level, because the truck has to be able to get out again with seven thousand pounds behind it.

Rivian and its model names are trademarks of their owner. Road Rescue Network is an independent nationwide dispatch network and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an authorised agent of Rivian. We name the make because it is what our rescuers service.

One number reaches a live dispatcher. Tell them the model and what it is doing, and the truck that leaves is the one that can actually take your car.
